If I had to pick one aspect that really stood out during this celebration it would be COMMUNITY.
The entire day was full of meaningful touches, beautiful cultural traditions, heartfelt and hilarious speeches (complete with custom props!). One of my favorite moments of the day was just after the ceremony when the newly joined families took a quiet moment together for the “pouring of libations”. It was beautiful to watch the family come together in reverent moments. They all laughed and dance together long into the night of celebration.
Their cake was handmade by one of the bridesmaids. Following their family/friend tradition, the dessert spread was comprised of cookies from bakeshops all over Portland. Cocktail hour and dinner were wonderful, thanks to the talent and hard work of Field Day catering!
The lovely floral work was done by a good family friend and talented florist, Linda of Rooms in Bloom. The custom wedding arbor was designed and built with her team’s help. Thanks to their planning, was easily transformed into a sweet photo booth during the cocktail hour.
Even the little touches reflected a sense of community: the table numbers had been used in multiple weddings and were carefully packed up at the end of the night to send home with the next soon-to-be-married couple.
As much as family and friends pitched in and helped, Kimberly and Kosa valued the ability to step away from planning to fully enjoy the celebration. We were so honored to be entrusted with such a lovely wedding and loved watching all their family and friends celebrate!
